Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20

What must we do to receive the gracious love and forgiveness of God?

First of all, we must see ourselves as we are and realize our need. A big part of this is the realization that we have sinned and that our sin is separating us from God, from our best selves, and from others. With an awareness, then, that God is a loving Father who hurts because we are separated from Him and that our sins are offenses against Him, we are sorry, deeply sorry.

We repent—that is, we turn around; we decide to return to the Father and accept the grace that he offers. That grace is accepted by faith, faith that Jesus is indeed our Savior; that is God’s gift of love to us for justification, reconciliation, and liberation.

We receive the gift, and it is that: our salvation is a gift; we receive it in faith.

What is the Vision of this Church?

Mount Moriah will utilize all our resources to provide a Christ-centered setting where people in this community can be redeemed to a personal relationship with Christ, reconciled to God and his people, restored to wholeness, to well-being, and revived for a full life involved in service to others. In this church, everyone is welcomed and affirmed. In this community, you can be redeemed, reconciled, restored, and revived.

How is that Vision carried out?

The Vision is carried out through a program of worship, education, and enrichment that leads to both Spiritual Formation and Social Transformation.

Spiritual Formation is the process of being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and for the sake of others (II Corinthians 3:17-18). The focus of spiritual formation is the Holy Spirit, who guides the ongoing journey toward union with God.

  • We EXALT our Lord, Jesus Christ, and believe that by living in His Word we have eternal salvation.

  • We EDUCATE our members through an interactive program of lifelong learning that includes Bible studies, spiritual mentoring, and practice.

  • We EDIFY God with head and heart through vibrant praise, persistent prayer, and relevant proclamation.

  • We EFFECT growth in the church and change in the community by faithfully rendering to God our time, tithes, and talents.

  • We EMBRACE the belief that the acid test of a congregation’s spiritual health and the relevance of its ministry is its impact upon the community.

Social Transformation refers to the process of change in institutionalized relationships, norms, values, and hierarchies over time.  As Christians, our interactions and lifestyle move all things from ascribed status to achieved status.

  • We EMBODY the mission of Jesus Christ through service-filled lives that work to feed the poor, liberate the oppressed, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, and visit those who are sick or imprisoned.

  • We EQUIP the body to both discern and perfect the various gifts of individual members for the work of Christ here on earth.

  • We EMPOWER the people of Mount Moriah to impact Pembroke and Byran County by bearing witness to the God of love and justice through Jesus Christ.

  • We EVANGELIZE those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Liberator.

  • We ENLIST the people of our community

I am interested in Membership.  What's the next step?

After you are moved to consider membership there are at least 3 ways you can make the Church aware of your desire:

  1. Simply walk down the aisle on Sunday after the Sermon when invited by the Minister.

  2. Share your membership interest with any Deacon or Church Officer and they will assist you.

  3. Email the Church Office here.

This Church holds Membership Orientation Class on the Fourth Sunday at 11:30 am in January, May, and September.  All members (old and new) are invited to attend Membership Orientation. All Deacons and Church Officers are required to attend periodically.

What will I learn in Membership Orientation Class?

Participants will learn about:

  • Baptist Beliefs and Ordinances of the Church

  • Salvation: Changing Lives & Transforming the World

  • Spiritual Formation

  • Stewardship

After each new member participates in and eventually completes the New Members Training Class, it is hoped that he or she will become a part of the Church fellowship and the larger community of believers, joining in the great work of building the Kingdom of God.

When can I be baptized?

The right time to be baptized is soon after you become a believer. (Acts 2:41) After completion of the new membership class, members will be baptized. Baptism is performed on the Fourth Sunday of every month when there are candidates.
