A state of emergency has been declared in Bryan County in response to a tornado that touched down in the Pembroke and Ellabell areas on April 5, 2022.  According to the National Weather Service, the EF-3 tornado with wind speeds reached 165 miles per hour and killed a 66-year-old woman along with injuring 12 other people

.

The tornado traveled eleven miles starting in Pembroke, at 5:19 p.m. Tuesday. They said the twister was about 1,300 yards wide.

After assessing damage reports, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said a State of Emergency is needed to provide the county with much-needed funds and resources.

Here are 3 ways to lend a hand to folks in Pembroke:

  1. DROP OFFF HYGIENE PRODUCTS

    • Drop off Deodorant, Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Shaving Gel, Razors, Feminine Hygiene Products; Baby Wipes; New Towels or Wash Cloths; Socks; Underwear; Diapers; Dog and Cat Food; Bottled Water.

  2. SUPPORT DISPLACED FAMILIES

    • We have four displaced families in #mountmoriah who lost everything. Text the word "blessed" to 912.225.6531 and support as you are led.

  3. BUILDING BACK

    • As the Pembroke community begins the rebuilding phase, we are looking for long-term investments that will strengthen the community infrastructure to more effectively respond to future crises.
